January Favorite Things

For some reason, every single time I paint my nails with regular polish they chip almost immediately afterward. So I was pretty skeptical when I picked up the Essie Gel Couture polish from a Target trip this month. But if you follow me on Instagram, you can obviously tell how OBSESSED I am! This is the only polish I have ever used where I can get at least a good 4-5 days wear out of it with ZERO chipping. Hallelujah!

Since I'm a SAHM, I am all about comfort! Gimme anything that's soft and cozy and I'll be your best friend. Which is why half the stuff on my favorites list this month is cozy related😂 Ain't no shame in my comfort game! I wear my robe and slippers every single day, it honestly makes me so happy when I get up in the morning to put them on!

Speaking of cozy, have you ever felt a Barefoot Dreams throw blanket? DO IT. Feel one. Buy one. Buy them all!!! They are PRICY and normally I would never ever spend that much on a throw blanket but they are 100000% worth it. You may have seen me snuggled up under mine on instastories because I literally love it so much. Michael will even try to steal it from me! So I had to buy another one just so we each could have one!

I've been using my Rutavala roll on (a mix of ruta, valerian and lavender) from Young Living every night before bed and holy crap! I have been sleeping so dang good. I forgot to use it one night and literally tossed and turned all night long. Never forgetting to put it on again! You can read more about essential oils here.

At the beginning of the month, I got my hair touched up for the first time in who knows how long🙈 I lightened up the ends a bit to get rid of the brassy tones I had. Since my hair is naturally very dark and I have reddish undertones, I try to eliminate those tones as much as possible when I get it done. Since I don't get my hair done often out of sheer laziness, my mother in law (who does my hair) suggested I use a purple shampoo to eliminate the unwanted yellow/orange tones in my hair. I snagged this one from Target and haven't used it a ton (because I only wash my hair once a week) but so far really like it. My favorite part is that it is sulfate free!

In this post, I shared that I was going to start taking more initiative to spend a little time each day to read as a way to take time for myself. I'm proud to say that I have actually been sticking to it & reading my devotional each morning, plus a couple chapters of Breathe Mama Breathe while drinking my coffee. It has been such a great way to start my day! I feel like it really sets the tone for the day I have when I take the time to read it. I've also noticed a big difference in how I have been handing situations with Ryker lately too. I've been making it more of a priority to step back and take a deep breathe before reacting to him.
