The Cure for Dry & Peeling Lips | Lip Product Review

A month or so ago I shared on Instagram that my lips were perpetually dry. No matter what I did, it seemed like nothing would help! This was an ongoing issue too, not something brought about by the winter months, but something I'd been dealing with long before. I did my best to drink plenty of water, exfoliate my lips and keep lip balm with me at all times, with little to no improvement. I was getting pretty desperate! Thankfully, Instagram is awesome and I can connect with so many awesome people, so after reaching out via stories I got plenty of recommendations to try out and see if anything worked.

The products I ended up choosing were ones that were recommended by multiple different people, which in my mind, showed they were worth a shot! I settled on four products: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask / Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask / Kopari Coconut Lip Glossy / & First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy (not pictured). The most recommended of them all was the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask! I did receive some other recommendations for different products but settled on trying these four that came highly recommended.

I tried each product out exclusively for 1 week. I used each product every night before bed after exfoliating my lips with a sugar scrub. I didn't change anything else from my daily routine except for implementing each of these products. After trying out each product, I have some pros and cons for them but also solidified my favorite of them all!

Pros: it smells really good and is thick enough that I feel like it's really helping with the dryness but not so thick I feel like I rubbed Vaseline on my lips. It even comes with a nifty applicator that allows you to apply a thick layer of the product without having to dip your finger into the jar which I like. There is definitely A LOT of product! I have been using it for awhile now and haven't even made a dent in it.

Cons: Price, it is $20 for a lip product. Something that was hard to justify spending but I was hoping it would be worth the money. Thankfully, you get a lot of product for your money so I think in the end it balances out.

Pros: Comes in a small tube which makes it easy for tossing in your purse or diaper bag.The ingredients in this one are by far the best as it is the most natural of the other ones. It is formulated with agave nectar and jojoba oil which are amazing for skin. It is also formulated free of gluten or petrochemicals.

Cons: Price, it is $26 for a small tube but you only need a teeny bit so the product will last a long time. Also, this one is SUPER thick. This is definitely one I couldn't apply any other time except for night because it literally felt like I put honey or syrup on my lips.

Pros: very light in comparison to the others and smells delicious! It also doesn't feel like a "gloss" which I was concerned about due to the name. It is a nice one for daily wear and is convenient to apply since its a squeezable tube you can apply directly to lips.

Cons: I felt like it didn't really give me the hydration I needed or necessarily fix the dryness of my lips. Its shiny and does soften my lips but I felt like it only did that if I applied it over and over again. Whereas, I am looking for something that I can use to keep the dryness in check without masking the problem.

Pros: also light in comparison to the masks and convenient application-wise because of the squeezable tube. Also another easy one for daily application that can be tossed in your bag for on the go. It also has a light peppermint scent which I liked, without being overly perfumed.

Cons: The texture of it was weird to me, it almost felt like there were little beads in it (maybe for exfoliation, I'm not sure) but it was strange to me. It also seemed to just mask the problem for me when I was wearing it without actually doing anything to improve the quality of my lips.

So which was the winner out of the four?  The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask!

After careful review of each product, I decided my favorite of them all was definitely the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. I felt like it was really the only one that I could apply every night and wake up with soft, supple lips in the morning. The product seemed to soak into my lips nicely and by the morning my lips were refreshed! It's actually improved my lips so much that I don't suffer from the same dryness and peeling I was before🙌 I love the way it applies, the light scent it has and honestly notice a difference if I don't use it each night. Sometimes, if it's an especially dry day, I will even apply a light layer during the day and it doesn't feel too sticky or overwhelming. A clear winner in my opinion!

The second runner up was the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask, I did notice that this helped improve the dryness and peeling of my lips as well but couldn't get passed how incredibly thick it is. I do still use it occasionally (mostly because it was SO expensive), but definitely gravitate to the Laneige one more. If you're looking for an all natural option that works well, I'd go for this one! I do want to try the Agave Sugar Lip Scrub, I think that sounds wonderful!

If you too suffer from dry, peeling lips, I hope that one of these products works for you! I know how frustrating it can be to deal with and it can even make you self-conscious at times. Thankfully, I've finally found something that works for me! If you've tried any of these products, let me know what worked for you and what didn't in the comments below😊

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you have an awesome weekend!
