Cash's Nursery | The Reveal

The day I have been {not so patiently} waiting for! Now that our sweet Cash Ryan has made his debut Earthside, I can finally share with you his nursery! This was a total labor of love from start to finish and I absolutely adore how it turned out. The moment I found out I was pregnant again, I began coming up with design ideas for either a boy or girls nursery. Funny thing was, I kept coming back to a boho inspired room for either gender. Interior design is one of my biggest passions and I really enjoy it so compiling ideas and figuring out how I wanted the room was the most fun for me. I started gathering ideas from Pinterest (surprise, surprisešŸ˜‰) and got down to collecting some gender neutral pieces that would work for a boy or girl's room.

Once we officially found out we were having a boy I really got down to picking out different pieces for the room and ultimately knew we were going to go with the same furniture we got for Ryker's room. The reason we love this furniture is because its sturdy, versatile and has lasted us so well for the last two years. I also like that the furniture is slightly modern in comparison to the bohemian accents and warm wood tones in the room. One of the things I was certain I was going to have in the nursery was a custom name sign by The Trendy Timber. I had come across their shop while perusing Instagram late one night and fell absolutely in love with their designs. It ended up being the perfect addition to the room and was the main reason I couldn't share his nursery reveal until after he came!

The nursery was originally our (my) office/storage and after cleaning out the entire room, I felt it needed something to spruce it up a bit before we could really get to work designing the nursery. I loved the paint color we had chosen for the walls and really did not have a desire to paint the entire room because painting sucks! But I did feel it was missing something. Once we completed the shiplap in our guest bathroom (you can check out the bathroom reveal here), I knew immediately that's what the nursery needed! So Michael, being the fabulous husband he is worked his butt off to shiplap the main wall where the crib was going! It really brightened up the otherwise small and dark room!

Once that was completed, the fun decorating the room could really begin! The first thing I picked up for his nursery were these Little Unicorn Bison sheets. They just spoke to me and truthfully the whole bohemian theme kind of took off from there! I was a little skeptical of adding any macrame to the room because I didn't want it to appear too feminine, especially since Ryker's room is ultra-boyish. But I ended up loving the subtle touch it added to the otherwise masculine vibe of the bison, mixed with the strong woods and boyish teal tones. I am a hugeee neutrals gal and really stayed in my comfort zone of black and white for Ryker's room (which I love and it totally fits him), but knew that this time around I wanted to add more touches of color to give some life to the room. I ended up scoring those adorable cactus & succulent prints from Hobby Lobby and knew they'd be just the thing to add some color to the room. I even scored some miniature faux cacti from the Target dollar bin that was the perfect addition to the shelves as well. I also put my new Solly Wrap in the color Ochre (it was limited edition) on display to add an additional pop of color on the other side of the room, I love that my wraps can also double as decor! These rad peace sign hooks were just the thing to hang them from.

I, of course, had to add a diffuser to his room since we diffuse oils throughout the rest of the house. We will likely diffuse a lot of Lavender in those early days when we're establishing a sleep routine! And I am a firm believer in using white noise to encourage a restful sleep with my kiddos. I have personally always slept with a fan on throughout the night solely for the purpose of white noise, so both kids have sound machines and fans in their room! I love this one we picked up for Cash's room because it is so compact that it's perfect for travel. I have a full post discussing how I sleep trained Ryker that you can check out here, I will likely do the same with Cash.

One of my favorite parts of his room is the letterboard with the lyrics from 'Walk the Line' by Johnny Cash. Although we didn't necessarily name him after the famous singer, we did decide to spell his name that way because of our mutual love for all of his music. Michael and I know basically every Johnny Cash song by heart so Cash's room definitely needed a small representation of his namesake.

His room was truly so much fun to design and I am so excited with the outcome! I adore being able to create such a special and serene space for me and my babies to spend so much time. I am so fortunate to have a husband who gives me full creative control and dives into each project I wish to take on! This was definitely one of our very favorites.
